We speak to people every single day and their reason for wanting to pursue a career in beauty, is to either be self-employed or have a second income stream to their current job.
Below is the founder & Ceo of Naillounge Training, Filiz Beshir, and here is her story.
“I began my beauty career when I was 14 years of age. I remember having my nails done in my local nail shop and thinking I want to do this. I always had a creative side to me, being academic was a complete no no. I went into the salon one day and asked for voluntary work. I wanted to watch, learn and do. I was finally given the chance to carry out a nail treatment on one of my colleagues, it was time to put my practice in to action. Her exact words were ‘Give it up, this job isn’t for you. Some people just have it and some don’t.!’ I went home in tears and was ready to give it all up. The next day, I woke up more determined than ever. I practiced from morning till night every single day for a number of months. During this time, I also failed almost all of my GCSEs. As devastated as my family was, I was too excited to start my career as a nail technician. Let’s fast forward 3 months from then, I was employed, fully booked with a cancelation list. This made me feel like I had accomplished something huge.
I was then introduced to the ‘Editorial’, ‘TV’ & ‘Celebrity’ world. I remember sitting backstage at Wembley on X-factor with my nail kit, London Fashion week, being a judge of a huge nail competition, being featured in magazines, my nails on celebrities and front covers of magazines. I finally reached the peak of my nail tech career.
8 years on, I wanted to come out of the salon and be able to pass on my knowledge and skills onto others. So, I enrolled on to a teacher training programme and 1.5 years later, I had my own class of 30 learners. This is where I really found a new drive & passion – helping others be successful. The love and passion for my industry allowed me to put in the work necessary to now own a successful training centre. We have since seen and qualified over 7,000 learners. Our goals are still set high to this day. One of our biggest accomplishments so far in 2020 is opening my second Location in the amazing heart of Dubai.
One of the biggest hardships I have found with speaking to a differentiation of people daily is finances and employment struggles. Especially now with the global distress we are all in. I decided I wanted to build a beauty business model and give people the opportunity to be able to make a second income. I wanted to be able to help people worry less, build friendships, live more and of course, have amazing skin. The changes we have seen in the people we have helped so far is incredible. We have had people leave their 9-5 jobs, clear debts, purchased their dream home but, most importantly, they have stability, freedom and security”.
